10 things to know before attending #aquiestamos16

1. You’ll get full workshops descriptions upon check-in

When you arrive at the Cooper Center, your first stop should be at the check-in/registration table to let us know you’re here! We’ll give you a bunch of goodies, including a full schedule and breakdown of workshops available.

2. Your friends can still attend if they didn’t get to register on time

If you know someone who did not get to register for the conference in time, they can still register the day of the conference as a “walk-in.” This will give them full access to all workshops and speakers, but we will not be able to provide any special accommodations and breakfast and lunch will have on be on their own on Saturday.

3. We’ll have cafecito, pan dulce, breakfast and lunch

On Friday, we’ll have pan dulce for our evening program. On Saturday, we’ll have coffee, pan dulce, and breakfast in the morning and lunch in the afternoon. (Note: Breakfast and lunch are only available for those who were able registered, not walk-ins.)

4. You’re going to get some free Aquí Estamos merch!

Upon check-in, you’ll receive a tote and lanyard as well as some supplies to keep you going during the conference.

5. But we’ll also have some queer art for sale!

We’ll have several art pieces made by local artists and donated to Aqui Estamos. If you see something you want to buy, find a volunteer or organizer and let them know!

6. Media will be present. It’s up to you if you want to engage.

There will be several media outlets and reporters present throughout the conference. Some may want to interview, photograph, or record attendees participating. However, you are not obligated to engage with media. If you feel uncomfortable, you have full authority to tell them to stop photographing or recording you.

7. There will be no Wi-Fi available for attendees 🙁

We’re sorry to share this heartbreaking news, but we will not be able to provide Wi-Fi for you. UNLESS you’re an STC or UTRGV student.

8. Use #aquiestamos16 EVERYWHERE

Our goal is to get our hashtag trending in the Rio Grande Valley. Help us!
