12108809_884302171657064_7641825294716772910_nAquí Estamos is partnering with Queer Undocumented Immigrant Project to launch the #NoMoreClosets Survey, a first of its kind national survey to document the lives of LGBTQ+ immigrants in the U.S. The objective of the survey is to humanize and uplift the real lived experiences of LGBTQ immigrants living in the U.S. with the goal to transform the immigrant and LGBTQ movements to adopt an intersectional analysis in their efforts to advance and build power for the rights of both communities.

Aquí Estamos will also take part in creating a final report after the survey has been completed. The survey will run through November 20, which is Transgender Day of Remembrance, and will be accompanied by an action (TBA).

Aquí Estamos knows that LGBTQ+ liberation for people of color requires justice in other issues that impact our lives, such as immigration. The Rio Grande Valley is one of the top regions in our country to be impacted by immigration, and we are committed to fight to justice and liberation not only as queer people of color, but also as immigrants.
